“WOMAN AND WOLF” new play by Elena Penga
Directed by Elli Papakonstantinou

A woman with a husband, friends, a career (she teaches at a university), abandons her normal life because an unfulfilled, forbidden passion has possessed her, has made her into a wolf and propels her along unfamiliar trails. Believing that she is thus pursuing a wild happiness, a deep need for vitality, she is led to ever more destructive and self-destructive acts, until she finds herself faced with a crime.

An allegory about the position of women, the relationship between the sexes and the conflict between nature and civilization in today’s society. The play, inspired by Ibsen’s ‘The Doll’s House’, traces the path of a contemporary Nora after she has left her home. It also brings to mind Beauty and the Beast. Only, in this case, Beauty and the Beast are one.

The work was presented in May 2014 in the “Écrire et mettre en scène aujourd’hui” Festival in Caen, in Panta Theatre, directed by Elli Papakonstantinou, performed by a cast of French actors, translated in French by Dimitra Kondylaki.

In its Greek version, the play has been presented at the 49th Dimitria Festival of Thessaloniki in Sfageia, in October 2014.

In November, it will play in the Municipal Theatre of Peiraias, 21/11-25/11.

Directed by Elli Papakonstantinou, set by Valentino Marengo, music by Panagiotis Velianitis, costumes by Alexandra and Telis Karananos, executive producer Georgia Demestiha, assistant director Kostas Kessidis, produced by ODC.
